On this site you can find information on life and work of Willy Eisenschitz. The aim of this site is to document the artists life and his work and to make this informationen availiable to the interested public. This site is constantly beeing updated as we try to put together new photos, artwork, articles etc.
In 1997 we organised the first retrospective of Willy Eisenschitz's work in Austria at the Lentos Museum (formerly Neue Galerie der Stadt Linz). Most of the information we gathered in the process of preparing this exhibition (photos, letters from friends, newspaper clippings,...), was given to us from the Eisenschitz family still living in France. Since then, we have made many exhibitions with works by Willy Eisenschitz and his painter colleagues in our gallery in Vienna.
Our most recent exhibition was on Willy Eisenschitz and Trude Waehner. Eisenschitz and Waehner have known eachother from the their time in Dieulefit. Both have spend time living in this small town in southern France. Eisenschitz spent most of the years during the period of World War II in Dieulefit and Trude Waehner moved there in the early 50ies.
